The Great Gatsby

Adaptated to the stage by Joe Landry, directed by Shannon Sanborn

Auditions August 7th at 4pm and August 10th at 6pm

The Valley Players are happy to announce the auditions for their next shows, The Great Gatsby, adapted for the stage by Joe Landry, and It's a Wonderful LIfe. Auditions will consist of reading from the script and are open to all, whether experienced or interested in trying theater. While the gender of the show’s characters is unable to be changed, we welcome actors of all gender identities to audition for any role. These two shows will be in a 1940’s Live Radio Broadcast style. Sound effects will be created live on stage and, due to the style of the performance, scripts will also be used on stage. Both shows will  have the same radio station “WBFR Playhouse of the Air” actors.  If possible the director, Shannon Sanborn, would like to cast both shows with the same actors; however, everyone interested in auditioning for one show or the other should attend.

Gatsby Synopsis: F. Scott Fitzgerald’s beloved classic comes to life as a 1940s radio broadcast in this spirited adaptation of The Great Gatsby. An ensemble brings more than two dozen characters from the  novel to the Legacy stage as a live broadcast, punctuated by 40’s-era commercials. A story of triumph and tragedy that reflects the decadence of the Jazz Age and the perils of the American Dream. Still, ain’t we got fun?"
